About this tour
This Bhutan honeymoon tour is seven unhurried days for the two of you, in a kingdom where happiness is official policy. You begin in the Paro valley and cross Dochula Pass, with its 108 chortens and Himalayan views. Then you settle into warm Punakha, where a lama blesses you as a couple at Chimi Lhakhang. After that, you walk the quiet Phobjikha valley, and your journey ends with the climb to Tiger’s Nest and a hot stone bath for two.
Your trip is completely private. The same guide and driver stay with you from arrival to departure, and the pace is yours: long breakfasts, slow sunsets and no group to keep up with. Meanwhile, we take care of your visa, the Sustainable Development Fee, permits and every booking along the way.
This honeymoon in Bhutan suits couples who want romance with meaning: quiet temples instead of crowded beaches, and moments you will still talk about years from now.
A honeymoon in Bhutan feels nothing like a beach resort. Instead of crowds, you share quiet temples, mountain passes and valleys where life still moves at a gentle pace. As a result, your days feel calm, private and full of meaning.
Bhutan also welcomes few visitors by design, because every traveller pays a Sustainable Development Fee that protects its culture and nature. For you, that means peaceful trails, empty viewpoints and warm hospitality wherever you go.
Every couple travels differently, so our Bhutan honeymoon packages come in three styles. Each one is private, with your own guide and driver.
All prices are per person and include the Sustainable Development Fee, hotels, meals, your guide, transport and your visa. Travelling with friends? Ask about group discounts.
The best time for a honeymoon in Bhutan is March to May, when rhododendrons bloom across the hills, or October to November, when skies are clear and the mountains stand out sharply. Meanwhile, December to February brings cold but sunny days, fewer visitors and black-necked cranes in Phobjikha.

Day by day
This itinerary shows one way to enjoy this trip. We can change any day, add or remove places, change the pace or the hotels, and add a festival. Every journey we run is curated around you.
Paro → Thimphu · 55 km · about 1 hour · 2,320 m As your plane glides between forested ridges into Paro, your guide meets you with white silk scarves, a traditional Bhutanese welcome. On the way to Thimphu, you stop at Tamchog Lhakhang and its iron-chain bridge over the Paro river. In the late afternoon, you visit the golden Buddha Dordenma, then hang your own prayer flags together on the hillside at Sangaygang, so your wishes carry on the wind. In the evening, you enjoy a quiet welcome dinner for two.
Thimphu → Punakha · 75 km · about 3 hours · pass 3,100 m · Punakha 1,250 m After breakfast, you climb to Dochula Pass, where 108 white chortens stand among prayer flags. On a clear day, the snow peaks of the eastern Himalaya line the horizon, and you share a picnic lunch with the whole range in view. Then the road winds down into the warm Punakha valley, with rice terraces and orange trees. In the late afternoon, you walk across the long suspension bridge over the Po Chhu, hand in hand above the river.
Punakha · short village walk · about 1 hour · 1,250 m After breakfast, you walk through rice fields and a farming village to Chimi Lhakhang. Here, a lama gives you a private blessing as a couple, a ritual Bhutanese newlyweds still seek today. Later, you explore Punakha Dzong, perhaps the most beautiful fortress in the kingdom, standing where two rivers meet. If you feel adventurous, you can float down the gentle Mo Chhu on a raft. In the evening, you share a candle-lit dinner together.
Punakha → Phobjikha · 80 km · about 3 hours · 2,900 m Today the road climbs through forests of oak and rhododendron into the wide, quiet Phobjikha valley. First, you visit Gangtey Monastery on its hilltop above the valley floor. Then, as the light softens, you follow the Gangtey nature trail through meadows and pine woods. From late October to February, black-necked cranes arrive from Tibet to spend the winter here. By night, the stars over the valley are unforgettable.
Phobjikha → Paro · about 6 hours with stops · 2,200 m After a slow morning in the valley, you drive back west over the passes, with tea stops along the way. In the afternoon, you reach Paro and light butter lamps together at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. In the evening, a farming family welcomes you into their home for a home-cooked Bhutanese dinner by the fire, with a cup of local ara if you wish.
Tiger’s Nest hike · about 4–5 hours return · 3,120 m You start early to climb to Taktsang, the Tiger’s Nest, which clings to a cliff high above the Paro valley. The trail rises through blue pine forest, and the halfway viewpoint makes the perfect place for a photo of the two of you. Back in the valley, your reward waits: a traditional hot stone bath for two, with river stones heated in a fire and local herbs in a wooden tub. Finally, you share a farewell dinner.
Paro airport · 15 minutes from town After breakfast, your guide drives you to Paro airport and sees you off with your last view of the valley. As your plane climbs past the ridges, you leave with a blessing, a stack of photos and a story few couples share. If your flight leaves later in the day, you have time for a final stroll through Paro town or a visit to Rinpung Dzong. We can also add extra nights anywhere along the route if you would like more time.
