    Ura Yakchoe (18–22 April, 2027)

    Overview

Each spring, when apple blossoms begin to open in the valleys of Bumthang Valley, the quiet village of Ura Village prepares for one of Bhutan’s most revered spiritual celebrations — Ura Yakchoe. For several days monks reveal a sacred relic believed to carry profound blessings, while villagers gather in colorful kira and gho to witness masked dances, prayers, and rituals that have continued for centuries.

Unlike the larger festivals in Bhutan’s cities, Ura Yakchoe feels deeply personal. Families travel from neighboring valleys, elders whisper prayers beneath fluttering prayer flags, and monks chant inside the village temple as the scent of incense drifts through the mountain air. For travelers seeking authentic Bhutan travel experiences, this festival offers a rare chance to witness Bhutan tourism through its spiritual traditions rather than spectacle.

This 10-day Bhutan holiday journey blends the sacred atmosphere of Ura Yakchoe with exploration of Bhutan’s most iconic valleys. From the peaceful landscapes of Paro Valley and the cultural heart of Thimphu, to the ancient monasteries of Bumthang, travelers experience the depth of Bhutanese culture through meaningful encounters.

Designed for solo travelers, families, adventure seekers, and cultural enthusiasts, this itinerary combines festival traditions, Himalayan landscapes, and immersive Bhutan sightseeing into a journey that captures the spirit of Bhutan.
